At Blackwood Development Company, Marc works in all aspects of development, from acquisition through stabilization. His responsibilities include entitlement, financing, construction, leasing and ongoing management.

Marc grew up in Rockville, Maryland and first moved to Richmond to earn a B.S. in finance from the University of Richmond. He also has an M.B.A. with a concentration in Real Estate from Virginia Commonwealth University. He started his career as a commercial loan officer, specializing in lending to the commercial construction industry, then became a leasing agent for a development company. He was responsible for the leasing of ten retail projects representing over one million square feet of space. In 2001, he joined Blackwood Development Company as a partner.

Marc’s favorite part about working at a small local development company is that it doesn’t just care about the bottom line, but seeks to create projects that are good examples of responsible development. He enjoys being a part of creating projects that will live beyond him, and appreciates that every retail project is different, giving him the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of people daily.

Marc is a board member at the School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC) and is an active volunteer for Temple Beth-El.

Outside the office, you can find Marc: on stage performing in a local Richmond play, cycling, golfing and supporting the Redskins, Capitals, Orioles and Richmond Spiders.
